Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Multiplayer Launch: Modes, Maps, and New Features

Activision has pulled back the curtain on the multiplayer experience for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, revealing an exciting lineup of maps, modes, and new gameplay features ahead of its release on October 25, 2024. Players can expect a return of fan-favourite modes, a host of new systems, and a refreshing amount of content ready to go on day one.

Multiplayer Launch Modes

At launch, Black Ops 6 will feature 16 multiplayer maps and a variety of modes catering to both casual and competitive players. Here's a breakdown of the standard multiplayer modes:

  • Free-For-All (8 players)

  • Team Deathmatch (6v6)

  • Domination (6v6)

  • Search & Destroy (6v6)

  • Kill Confirmed (6v6)

  • Hardpoint (6v6)

  • Gunfight (2v2 and 6v6)

  • Headquarters (6v6)

  • Kill Order (6v6)

  • Control (6v6)

Additionally, Black Ops 6 will offer Face Off modes, where Scorestreaks are disabled, and players face each other in small-scale, close-quarters combat. These modes include Face Off Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Order, and Kill Confirmed.

For those who prefer a more hardcore experience, Hardcore Mode is returning with minimal HUD, friendly fire enabled, and lower health settings across a selection of game modes like Team Deathmatch, Kill Order, Domination, and more.

New Systems and Features

One of the standout innovations in Black Ops 6 is the Omnimovement system, which grants players the ability to move in multiple directions while using classic mechanics like sliding, jumping, and diving. This system promises to elevate the fluidity and complexity of combat, making each match more dynamic.

To help players get comfortable with Omnimovement, Activision has added the Training Course, found on the new multiplayer map Protocol. Players can hone their skills here, ensuring they are battle-ready.

Additional features include the return of the Firing Range, where players can test their weapons and loadouts before entering combat, and Theater Mode, which allows players to replay and capture highlights from their matches. However, Theater Mode won’t be available on PS4 or Xbox One.

Multiplayer Maps

The launch brings 16 maps, divided between core 6v6 and Strike maps, which can be played in either 2v2 or 6v6 formats. Here’s the full list of launch maps:
