New Lara Croft skin in Call of Duty ignites speculation for upcoming Tomb Raider game

Activision has unveiled a teaser image of the Lara Croft skin soon to be introduced to Call of Duty on September 9. This has triggered speculation about whether this new appearance could foreshadow Lara's makeover in the upcoming Tomb Raider game.

The image reveals Lara in her classic outfit, complete with dual pistols, a blue shirt, and her iconic braided hair. Notably, elements from the reboot series are integrated, including her distinctive necklace.

Purchasers of the Tomb Raider bundle will secure the Lara Croft operator, Mach-5 dual pistols, Ice Axe melee weapon, and Mythic Defender SMG. The bundle also encompasses a Tomb Buggy vehicle skin, a Tomb Raider-themed loading screen, exclusive sticker, and emblem.

As anticipation builds for the unnamed new Tomb Raider game, the resemblance between this Call of Duty depiction and the forthcoming adventure raises questions. Amazon, the publisher, has confirmed the game will continue Lara Croft's narrative-driven journey.

Crystal Dynamics, developer of the upcoming game, was acquired by Embracer Group from Square Enix. The studio is simultaneously collaborating with Microsoft's The Initiative on the Perfect Dark reboot. A Netflix Tomb Raider animated series featuring Hayley Atwell is also in the works. The Call of Duty glimpse hints at Lara's potential transformation, heightening expectations for both franchises.
