Spider-Man 2 Easter Egg Pays Tribute to Chadwick Boseman
In the eagerly awaited release of Spider-Man 2 for the PlayStation 5, fans have been treated to a heartfelt Easter egg paying tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, famed for his portrayal of Black Panther. The homage can be discovered in an interaction at the Wakandan Embassy in the Midtown district, a familiar location from previous Spider-Man games.
As detailed by IGN's Easter egg guide, players, taking on the role of Miles Morales, approach the embassy's front door, where a prompt to press △ appears, with the option to "Honor." When selected, Miles crosses his arms over his chest, performing the iconic "Wakanda Forever" gesture, a symbol of respect made famous by Boseman's character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This touching gesture isn't the first time the Insomniac-developed Spider-Man games have remembered Chadwick Boseman. In the 2020 release of "Spider-Man: Miles Morales," a message in the credits paid tribute to the actor, stating, "In loving memory of a noble king, Chadwick Boseman. His honor, strength, and compassion will reverberate for generations to come. Wakanda forever."
Furthermore, "Spider-Man: Miles Morales" renamed 42nd Street to "Chadwick Way," a nod to Boseman's role as Jackie Robinson in the film "42."
With the release of Spider-Man 2 on the PS5, fans are now embarking on a journey to uncover all the secrets and adventures that the highly anticipated sequel has to offer. IGN's review awarded the game 8/10, praising it as "Insomniac's best tale yet" and a "reliably fun superhero power trip," despite some shortcomings in the open-world aspect.
