CD Projekt Red Confirms Cyberpunk 2077 Live Action Project Delayed Until 2025

In a recent earnings call, CD Projekt Red's Chief Commercial Officer, Michał Nowakowski, announced that the highly anticipated live-action project based on Cyberpunk 2077 won't hit screens until 2025 at the earliest. Despite declining to provide a specific release date, Nowakowski assured investors that the project would not be unveiled in 2024.

Nowakowski explained, "In terms of promotional activities, there is the Ultimate Edition launching soon, but when it comes to the Cyberpunk IP, we're going to be nurturing it and developing it through activities going outside of the game as well."

While details about the project remain scant, CD Projekt Red had previously announced a collaboration with Anonymous Content, set to take Cyberpunk beyond the gaming realm. However, no information has been disclosed regarding the nature of the project, leaving fans in suspense about whether it's a film, TV show, or a unique narrative set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.

This venture into non-gaming media is not unfamiliar territory for CD Projekt Red, as evidenced by the success of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, released in September 2022 in collaboration with Studio Trigger. The anime not only delighted fans but also introduced new content to the Cyberpunk 2077 game.

Simultaneously, CD Projekt Red is making strides in the gaming space, with plans underway to establish a North American studio dedicated to the development of Cyberpunk 2077's sequel, codenamed Orion. The company remains committed to expanding and enriching the Cyberpunk universe through various media, ensuring a sustained and engaging experience for fans.
