Bethesda's 'Starborn' Trademark Ignites Starfield DLC Speculations
Bethesda has recently trademarked 'Starborn,' a term directly linked to its popular game, Starfield. This trademark, discovered by X/Twitter user @bogorad222, was filed by Bethesda's parent company, ZeniMax Media Inc., which is owned by Microsoft. This move has fueled speculation about the potential for new DLC, either as a follow-up to the upcoming Shattered Space expansion or as a smaller, character-focused addition.
In Starfield, 'Starborn' refers to beings encountered after the player gathers enough artefacts for Constellation. These beings are humans who have travelled through a portal between universes. Upon completing the main storyline, players can start a New Game Plus by choosing to become Starborn during the final quest, One Giant Leap.
Starfield launched on PC and Xbox Series X and S in September 2023 and quickly became Microsoft's biggest release of the year. IGN rated the game 7/10, noting, "Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist."
Bethesda has released several updates since the game's launch, with the Shattered Space expansion expected to significantly enhance the action RPG. In June, Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard confirmed that at least one more story expansion would follow Shattered Space, aiming for annual releases for the foreseeable future. Could 'Starborn' be next?
Bethesda Game Studios, a 450-person team, is busy with multiple projects, including Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76 content, mobile games, and updates for older titles. While a Starfield sequel might be on the horizon, it likely won't appear soon, with Elder Scrolls 6 expected no earlier than 2028 and another Fallout game to follow.
