EA announces major restructuring to empower creative teams and expand beyond gaming

Electronic Arts (EA) is undergoing a major internal shakeup to empower its creative teams and expand beyond gaming. CEO Andrew Wilson announced the realignment of major studios and leadership roles, including the split of EA Games and EA Sports. Laura Miele will become the EA President of Entertainment, Technology, and Central Development at EA Entertainment, while Cam Weber continues to lead EA Sports. Both will have increased control over their labels. Wilson remains CEO of both organizations.

The restructuring follows the retirement of Chief Experiences Officer Chris Bruzzo and the departure of CFO Chris Suh, with their responsibilities being assumed by David Tinson and Stuart Canfield. While the extent of possible layoffs is unclear, EA Sports will still oversee popular franchises like F1, PGA Tour, and Super Mega Baseball. EA Entertainment will encompass studios such as Respawn, DICE, Ripple Effect, Ridgeline Games, Full Circle, Motive Studio, BioWare, and EA Originals.

Wilson emphasized the company's strong business and its focus on legendary franchises and innovative experiences. Recent releases like Jedi Survivor and the upcoming Immortals of Aveum have contributed to EA's success. The restructuring aims to enhance operations and embed dedicated capabilities within franchise teams.
