Discord Calls Coming Directly to PS5 Consoles in New Update

Exciting news for PS5 owners! Sony has just announced an update that will significantly enhance Discord integration on the console. With this new update, PS5 users will soon be able to join Discord calls directly from their console without needing a mobile device or computer.

Previously, joining a Discord call from a PS5 required manually transferring the call from the Discord app on another device. This process was somewhat cumbersome, but the new update streamlines everything, making it much more convenient for users to stay connected with their gaming friends.

According to a new post on the PlayStation Blog, the update will "gradually roll out over the coming weeks." PS5 owners in Japan and Asia will be the first to receive access to the new features, followed by those in Europe, Australia/New Zealand, the Middle East, and finally the Americas.

This update is part of Sony's ongoing collaboration with Discord, which began last year with the initial announcement of PS5 integration. Beyond this, Discord has also been expanding its presence on Xbox gaming hardware through a partnership with Microsoft. This collaboration started in 2022, and in August 2023, it was further enhanced to allow Xbox users to stream their games directly to Discord.

Discord's efforts to enhance the PS5 experience come shortly after the company announced its intention to refocus on its gaming-centric roots. Whether it's players using Discord for communication or developers leveraging it as a tool to connect with their audience, the platform aims to solidify its role as a key player in the gaming community.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development as it rolls out to PS5 users worldwide!
