Ghost Face Invades Hunt: Showdown 1896 in Halloween Crossover Event

Crytek has revealed an exciting collaboration with Fun World, bringing the iconic Ghost Face from Scream into Hunt: Showdown 1896. The crossover comes just in time for Halloween 2024, with the "Ghost Face Rampage" DLC offering players a new Hunter decked out in a 19th-century makeover to fit the game’s aesthetic. This is the first horror-themed collaboration for Hunt: Showdown 1896, tying into the ongoing "Harvest of Ghosts" event, which will remain live until November 25.

Since its debut in 2018, Hunt: Showdown has captivated players with its intense bounty-hunting gameplay. The 2024 version, Hunt: Showdown 1896, brings the experience to current-gen consoles, though the end of support for older platforms sparked mixed reactions. The latest update aims to reignite player excitement, with Ghost Face as the central figure for this year’s spooky season.

Ghost Face's Deadly Arsenal

Crytek’s official trailer teases the new Ghost Face Hunter wielding a specialised, stealth-based loadout. Players will have access to two silenced weapons: the Hush, a Frontier 73C Silencer, and the Whisper, a Bornheim No. 3 Silencer. Additionally, Ghost Face comes equipped with the Life Taker knife, a nod to his infamous weapon of choice from the Scream films. These weapons focus on close-quarters combat, offering players a significant edge in silent yet deadly encounters.

Priced at $9.99/€9.99, the DLC will be available starting October 24, 2024, on Steam, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5. Fans anticipate that Ghost Face could join the ranks of Hunt: Showdown 1896’s best Legendary Hunters.

A Fresh Look for Ghost Face

While Dead by Daylight has long featured Ghost Face in its survival horror lineup, Hunt: Showdown offers a new take on the classic villain. Art Director Stefan Heinrich shared insight into the redesign, explaining that Ghost Face now sports a hand-carved, weathered wooden mask, a tattered duster in place of the signature robe, and leather holsters to complete the rugged 1890s look. While the design changes have received praise from some, others feel it strays too far from the game’s original lore.

Despite the controversy, Hunt: Showdown 1896 continues to thrive, recently breaking a new milestone with over 60,000 concurrent players in August. This Halloween update seems poised to attract even more attention.
