EA CEO expresses confidence in Battlefield series despite past struggles

EA CEO Andrew Wilson recently spoke about his confidence in the future of the Battlefield series during a company investor report. Despite the difficult launch of Battlefield 2042 in late 2021, Wilson spoke about taking "ownership" of major brands, including Battlefield, and building for their future. He mentioned the company's ability to bring Battlefield back in a new way in the future.

During a Q&A session, Wilson was asked about the progress of Battlefield IP projects. Although he did not provide any date announcements, he expressed "extraordinary confidence" in the new leadership team and their progress towards the future of the franchise. Wilson assured investors that the series is "firmly implanted" in EA's strategy and that Battlefield will be a meaningful part of their future.

Battlefield 2042's disappointing launch resulted in plummeting player counts in the weeks following its release. However, seasonal updates over the following year and a half have been successful in bringing some fans back. Despite the struggles, Wilson's confidence in the series is a positive sign for its future.

EA's focus on building games and experiences that attract and entertain massive online communities across platforms, business models, and geographies bodes well for the future of the Battlefield series. Fans eagerly anticipate news on the new leadership team's vision for the franchise.
