Ubisoft Creative Director addresses concerns about Star Wars Outlaws gameplay length
Concerns about Ubisoft's upcoming game, Star Wars Outlaws, have emerged regarding its potential time commitment. The first-ever open-world Star Wars adventure developed by Massive Entertainment, known for The Division series, will follow the exploits of a rogue named Kay Vess in the crime-riddled galaxy between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
These worries stem from the trend of lengthening gameplay in recent Ubisoft titles, such as Assassin's Creed Odyssey's 45-hour main story and Valhalla's whopping 60-hour playtime, not counting DLCs. While some players appreciate the depth, others find these games overly vast.
To address these concerns, Creative Director Julian Gerighty assured players in an interview with IGN that Star Wars Outlaws will feature large open areas on various planets but won't demand an excessively long commitment. This aligns with Massive Entertainment's approach in previous titles, opting for smaller, denser, and focused open-world designs.
Gerighty's comparison of each planet's open area in Outlaws to one or two regions of Assassin's Creed Odyssey's Greece further alleviates worries. Although the total number of planets remains undisclosed, it hints at an expansive yet manageable gameplay experience.
