Far Cry 7 and Multiplayer Game Reportedly in the Works at Ubisoft
According to recent reports, Ubisoft may be working on both Far Cry 7 and a Far Cry multiplayer game. These rumors have not been confirmed by Ubisoft, but sources close to the company have suggested that development on both games is already underway.
If true, Far Cry 7 would be the next installment in the popular first-person shooter franchise, which has seen six main games released so far. The series is known for its open-world gameplay and diverse environments, with past games taking players to locations such as the Himalayas, the African savannah, and a fictional island in the Pacific. It is not yet clear where Far Cry 7 will be set or what the story will be about, but fans of the series are sure to be excited at the prospect of a new game.
In addition to Far Cry 7, rumors also suggest that Ubisoft is working on a Far Cry multiplayer game. This would be a new direction for the franchise, which has traditionally focused on single-player experiences. It is not yet known the exact form the multiplayer game would take, however inside sources have described it as being set in the Alaskan wilderness and is currently an extraction-based shooter with mechanics such as permadeath, a backpack system, contracts, and more.
While Ubisoft has not officially confirmed the rumors, the company has a history of announcing new games at major industry events such as E3 or Gamescom, so fans may not have to wait long for more information. In the meantime, speculation about the new Far Cry games will likely continue to grow. It’s understood that the games are still at least a couple of years away, with a tentative scheduled release date of fall 2025.
