Warcraft’s 20th Anniversary Stream: Celebrating the Past, Teasing the Future

Blizzard is gearing up for a major celebration as Warcraft marks its 20th anniversary this year. To commemorate two decades of the iconic franchise, the company will host a special Warcraft 20th Anniversary Direct stream on November 13 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. The stream promises to honour the series' rich history while offering fans a glimpse of what’s to come.

The stream will cater to a wide range of Warcraft enthusiasts. From real-time strategy fans of the original Warcraft games to those deeply immersed in World of Warcraft (WoW), Blizzard aims to include "something for everyone." Players of Warcraft Rumble and Hearthstone will also see some spotlight moments during the event.

While fans shouldn’t expect a groundbreaking reveal like Warcraft IV, there’s plenty to look forward to. Blizzard has shifted away from its RTS roots, as detailed in the recent book Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future of Blizzard Entertainment. Instead, the stream may feature nostalgic nods to the classic RTS games, possibly through tribute trailers, though Blizzard is teasing "surprises."

For World of Warcraft players, the excitement continues following the highly-praised War Within expansion. Blizzard’s long-term plans for WoW are already in motion, with three new expansions in the works as part of the "Worldsoul Saga," under the guidance of legendary developer Chris Metzen.

The stream will wrap up with a special musical performance, World of Warcraft: 20 Years of Music, featuring the 21st Century Orchestra and three choirs: Tales of Fantasy, Ardito, and Madrijazz Gospel. Fans can watch the event live on Blizzard’s official streaming platforms.
