Five new Lord of the Rings IP games coming before March 2024

The Swedish video game and media holding company Embracer Group, have recently announced that the company’s external partners have five new games based on The Lord of the Rings IP, currently in production. Embracer Group have also stated that they expect all 5 games to be released by the end of March 2024. This news comes after Embracer Group’s acquisition of Middle-earth Enterprises back in August 2022.

Two games based on The Lord of the Rings IP have already been announced, with the first being the story-driven action/adventure game Gollum, developed by Daedalic Entertainment. Originally set for release in 2021, the game was delayed and is now expected to launch in Spring/Summer 2023.

The second game, titled The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, is a survival title where players embark on an all-dwarf adventure to explore and survive the underground region. Developed by Free Range Games, it is set to be released later this year on PC via the Epic Games Store.

While three additional The Lord of the Rings games are currently in production, it remains uncertain whether these games will be for mobile or other platforms. More information on the upcoming titles is expected to be shared by developers at the upcoming Nacon Connect event scheduled for March 9th.
