Fandom report shows that Millennials spend more time gaming than Gen Z
The entertainment company Fandom's recent report challenges the common belief that Gen Z and teenagers are the primary gamers. The report reveals that Millennials, born between 1981 and 1996, are the largest gaming demographic. The study found that 52% of Millennials ranked gaming as their top interest, making them an untapped audience in the gaming industry.
The report aimed to explore gamer motivations and behavior across different generations to provide insight into the industry. It found that gaming engagement has increased across all age groups, platforms, and genres over the past five years, with 45% of gamers spending more time gaming than before.
The report also revealed that parents' attitudes towards gaming have changed. More parents see gaming as an opportunity to bond with their children and help them develop positive skills. Co-gaming parents are 83% more likely to agree that gaming helps develop leadership abilities, 77% more likely to agree that it teaches important life skills, and 38% more likely to agree that it fosters teamwork and collaboration.
The report concludes that gaming is a growing industry, and gaming companies should better understand their audiences and adapt to changing trends. The report's insights into gamer motivations and behavior can help the gaming industry create more engaging experiences for all age groups.
