Halo Infinite Season 3 releases with promises of consistent content stream
Popular sci-fi FPS Halo Infinite has finally released its third season, filled with new weapons, maps, and more. Developer 343 Industries is promising an uninterrupted stream of content moving forward, and they're hoping to avoid the long content droughts that players have endured in the past.
Speaking on Xbox Wire, Sean Baron, the head of live performance at 343 Industries, acknowledged the previous long seasons that players have had to deal with, promising to avoid those problems this time around. He stated that "seasonality is restrictive", and that "to me, seasonality is really about consistency – we need to be consistent in everything." Baron added that he feels confident with where they have gone with Season 3 and is positive they will continue to improve on the consistency issue and avoid the long seasons of the past.
Halo Infinite's third season, Echoes Within, includes two new arena maps, one Big Team Battle map, a new weapon, and a Halo-style take on a gun game mode called Escalation Slayer. The first two seasons were not the smoothest rides for the game, with many gamers expressing their frustrations with the long content droughts, delays to big features such as Forge, and persistent Big Team Battle issues.
Halo's future was unclear after significant cuts to Infinite's development team at 343 Industries. However, Microsoft has assured the community that 343 is crucial to Halo's success, and there are potential pivots in the works for the franchise, including a possible shift to Unreal Engine.
