Hogwarts Legacy combat gameplay and more revealed in showcase video
Hogwarts Legacy developer Avalanche Studios have recently released a gameplay showcase video which reveals some aspects of the upcoming Wizarding world RPG. The video has game director Alan Tew, Senior Environment Artist Boston Madsen, Community Manager Chandler Wood, and special guest Community Host James “XpectoGO” Whitehead discussing and showcasing a deep dive into the character creator, a small tour of Hogwarts Castle, and an introduction to combat.
The character creator system provides a significant variety regarding customisations options. Fans of the genre have the ability to create themselves and live out their magical fantasy within Hogwarts Legacy. The innovative user interface and controller mapping allows players to easily access the 20 learnable spells, such as the Levitation Charm “Wingardium Leviosa”.
The gameplay video shows off the game's stunning lighting and visuals and has the player exploring the Hufflepuff common room with all the intricate details coming straight from J.K. Rowling's writing, as well a beautiful score that takes inspiration from the film series and books. The gameplay also showcases other well known areas to Harry Potter fans such as the Grand Staircase, and the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom.
Hogwarts Legacy combat is shown with the player using spells against a target dummy, incorporating main spells such as Accio with basic spell attacks weaved in between to create high damage combinations. The devs also explain and showcase how spells are divided into categories which are represented in colors. Certain spells can be used to break reflective shields and counter opponents spells either deflecting or returning the damage. Hogwarts Legacy is set to release on the 10th of February 2023.
