The PlayStation VR2 releases with 10 new games added to launch window
Sony’s highly anticipated new virtual reality headset, the PlayStation VR2 was finally released on the 22nd of February. The company has confirmed the launch of 47 games within the 'launch window', which includes all titles releasing within a month of the gadget's debut. Initially the launch window was expected to provide 37 games but Sony announced the addition of 10 new games to the list. Some games will be available for immediate download, while others will be released over the next few weeks.
Some of the new titles for the system include the following:
Horizon Call of the Mountain
The Dark Pictures: Switchback
Fantavision 202X
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution
The Light Brigade
Cosmonious High
Pistol Whip
Tentacular
The reviews for the system so far have been overwhelmingly positive, however, the device requires a connection to a PS5, which could be seen as a downside compared to other VR competitors such as the untethered Oculus Quest 2. Sony has confirmed that over 100 titles are currently in development for the PSVR 2, and there are more to come in the future.
Some of the most exciting releases include Resident Evil 4 VR, Star Wars: Squadrons, and Hitman 3, allowing fans to finally experience flying an X-wing in VR with the 2000x2040 OLED screens that the PSVR 2 provides. The PlayStation VR 2 is now available for purchase at $549.99 or as a bundle with Horizon Call of the Mountain for $599.99, exclusively through PlayStation Direct. Additional accessories such as controllers can be purchased separately.
