Amazon Games and Middle-earth Enterprises join forces to create epic Lord of the Rings MMO

Amazon Games and Embracer Group's subsidiary, Middle-earth Enterprises, have teamed up to create a new MMO game based on J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. The open-world adventure will bring the beloved stories of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy to life in a persistent Middle-earth. Development is in the early stages, led by Amazon Games Orange County, known for their successful MMO New World. The game will be published globally for PC and consoles, with launch details to be revealed later.

Christoph Hartmann, VP of Amazon Games, expressed the company's commitment to delivering high-quality games, including renowned IPs like The Lord of the Rings. The collaboration with Middle-earth Enterprises is an honor and expands their partnership with Embracer Group.

Lee Guinchard, CEO of Freemode, stated their ambition to create a top-tier MMO that captivates players worldwide and does justice to the vast Middle-earth universe. Amazon Games' publishing and development momentum grows with this title, following the success of New World and Lost Ark, along with publishing agreements for other upcoming games.

It's important to note that this MMO project is separate from Amazon Studios' hit series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which explores a different era of Middle-earth. The upcoming MMO will delve into the Second Age, offering players a distinct experience within Tolkien's expansive world.
