Official ‘Hardcore’ servers are coming to World of Warcraft Classic
World of Warcraft (WoW) Classic is set to introduce Hardcore mode servers this summer, as announced by the official WoW Twitter account. The new feature will provide support and structure for a player-made way of playing the game, where players won't be able to revive after dying under any circumstances. This means that players will only have one life to play with.
The servers will be entirely new and not conversions of old servers. According to reports, players who die in the Hardcore mode will still be able to log in as a ghost to turn over guild leadership or message friends. However, they won't be able to resurrect and continue playing.
In addition to the Hardcore mode, WoW Classic will also feature a new version of the Duel feature, called /makgora, which allows players to fight to the death. This means that whoever loses the duel will be permanently dead, which will likely lead to fierce battles over key grinding areas.
Blizzard has stated that it does not intend to dominate how players are already playing Hardcore mode, but rather provide official support to those already doing it. This reassures players who were concerned that the new servers might change their community or how their self-imposed challenges worked.
Currently, WoW Classic Hardcore mode players use an addon to track their runs, which includes leaderboards and the like. The new Hardcore mode servers will offer official support for this mode of playing, giving players a new way to challenge themselves and experience WoW Classic.
