Dead by Daylight is coming to the big screen
Variety recently reported that two of the top horror film production companies, Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, are joining forces together with Behaviour Interactive to produce a Dead by Daylight film adaptation. Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are responsible for producing some of the most successful franchises in horror films such as Saw, Paranormal Activity, and The Conjuring.
Dead by Daylight is a survival horror game that pits four players against one killer. The game's popularity has soared since its initial release in 2016, with its unique gameplay and intense atmosphere attracting a dedicated fanbase. Little is known so far about the exact premise of the movie, as they are still in the process of getting a team together, however there are likely to be generators involved.
"We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with Jason Blum (Blumhouse) and James Wan (Atomic Monster), two giants of the horror film industry, to further expand the Dead by Daylight universe,” said Behaviour's executive vice president Stephen Mulrooney "At Behaviour, our motto is to create unique moments, together, forever. Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are the ideal partners to craft Dead by Daylight’s killer entrance onto the big screen."
Wan said he and his team at Atomic Monster are big fans of Dead by Daylight, which is "perfect for a scary cinematic adaptation" thanks to its "building of an incredible environment teeming with atmosphere and terrifying villains". Mulrooney went on to say "[We] think it’s imperative we find someone who appreciates and loves the world as much as we do, to help us bring the game to the big screen".
