Counter-Strike 2 rumors may be true with beta reportedly coming soon
The rumors may be true, and game dev company, Valve, might be releasing the much-anticipated Counter-Strike 2, according to a new report. Although there have been rumors about the release of Counter-Strike 2 over the years, this report, coming from Counter-Strike journalist Richard Lewis, is considered highly credible. The report was corroborated with other leaks and has said that a beta version of the game may be released as early as late March or early April.
This report comes after popular Twitter accounts including @gabefollower, recently pointed out that NVIDIA drivers had introduced support for two new executables, “csgos2.exe” and “cs2.exe”. Valve has also reportedly flown out a professional Counter-Strike team to test the game.
According to the reports, Counter-Strike 2 will have a 128 tick rate, be made in Source 2, and will have improved matchmaking. However, there are concerns among some players that Counter-Strike 2 could be a separate game rather than an upgrade to the current Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) game. The lack of information about the transfer of years of skins between the games has only added to players' worries.
If this report is true, Counter-Strike 2 will be Valve's most significant release since Dota 2 in 2013 or the original CSGO in 2012. It will come as a welcome surprise for Counter-Strike fans who have been waiting for an upgrade or replacement for the game, however Valve has not confirmed or denied the rumors. Regardless, fans of CSGO and competitive FPS games are excited.
