Baldur’s Gate 3 Speedrunner achieves sub-four minute record with dark tactic

The Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunning community has witnessed a groundbreaking achievement as ImTaiyl set a new world record, completing the game in a mere 3 minutes and 57.96 seconds in the "Any%" Speedrun category. This achievement followed closely on the heels of Mae, a Canadian speedrunner, who made headlines with a time of 4 minutes and 15 seconds.

The secret behind their success? A controversial technique called 'Shadowboxing,' involving dispatching the popular Cleric companion, Shadowheart, and stowing her lifeless body inside a camp wooden box. This macabre ritual ignites the box, propelling the story to Act 2's end.

ImTaiyl expressed astonishment at their speedy run and commitment to improvement, but concerns have arisen about potential game-breaking glitches due to Shadowboxing. The community speculates whether Larian Studios, the developer, will address this in future updates.
