Helldivers 2 Patch Aims to Fix Matchmaking, Server Woes, and Launch Woes
Helldivers 2 is getting a much-needed patch. Developer Arrowhead Studios is rolling out Patch 1.000.10 on Steam and PS5, targeting the numerous issues players have faced since launch.
Chief among the problems are matchmaking, server issues, and the black screen bug plaguing PC players. CEO Johan Pilestedt assures fans, "Patch going out now... Resolved matchmaking and prep for increased server load. Let's gooo!"
The patch tackles other problems too, including ragdoll physics crashes, brutal "extract civilian" missions, and even implements an automatic retry for quickplay matchmaking.
Despite launch issues, Helldivers 2 has been a hit, drawing inspiration from Starship Troopers and even surpassing Grand Theft Auto 5's Steam concurrent player record. However, "servers at capacity" plagued the experience, with some players resorting to staying logged in to secure their spot.
While praising the game's core, even Pilestedt advised holding off on purchases until things stabilized. This patch is a step in the right direction, but known issues like login rate limits, disconnects, and UI glitches persist.
