Diablo 4 may adopt live service model with quarterly seasons and annual expansions

Blizzard’s Diablo 4 will embrace a live service model featuring quarterly seasons and annual expansions, as hinted by Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson in a recent Dexerto interview.

Fergusson's affirmation that "It's years and years" for Diablo 4 underlines the commitment to a dynamic and evolving experience. This strategy takes a page from Destiny 2's playbook, promising a continuous flow of fresh content while preventing player fatigue from predictable seasons.

The announcement comes in the wake of Bungie's decision to move away from frequent seasonal releases in favor of fewer, more substantial "episodes" in Destiny 2. This change acknowledges player concerns about the repetitive nature of seasonal content.

Fergusson also acknowledged the long gap between Diablo 3 and 4, recognizing players' desire for more substantial content. The shift in approach ensures a robust and sustained gaming experience for Diablo fans.

While Blizzard has not officially confirmed these changes, they hint at an exciting future for Diablo 4, promising extended demon-slaying adventures and an ever-evolving gameplay experience for fans of the franchise.
