5 - Lara Croft

The iconic female protagonist Lara Croft is portrayed as an intelligent and athletic British archaeologist who ventures into ancient tombs and hazardous ruins around the world. She first appeared in the 1996 classic, Tomb Raider, and has since been seen in 3 films (2 starring Angelina Jolie), and 18 Tomb Raider video game releases. The most recent being Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 2018 which received multiple awards and an IGN rating of 9/10.

4 - Kratos

Kratos is the main character in the God Of War series, based on Greek and Norse mythology this bloodthirsty demigod warrior has a total of 7 games with an eighth on the way. Kratos is portrayed as a Spartan warrior, who becomes known as the “Ghost of Sparta” after accidentally killing his family due to the trickery of Ares, the god of war. After avenging his family and killing Ares, he becomes the new God of War. The 8th game, Ragnarok, is the long awaited sequel to the 2018 game which won game of the year. Ragnarok is scheduled for release on the 9th of November 2022.

3 - Geralt of Rivia

Geralt Of Rivia is the protagonist of The Witcher series, based on a polish author’s short stories and novels. He is a magically enhanced monster-hunter known as a "witcher", who possesses supernatural abilities due to his mutations. Geralt is also the main character in CD Projekt Red’s popular video game trilogy The Witcher, with the third game, Wild Hunt (released in 2015), receiving numerous game of the year awards and has been cited as one of the best video games ever made. Wild Hunt takes place in a fictional fantasy world based on Slavic mythology where players from the perspective of Geralt, search for his adopted daughter Ciri, who is on the run from the Wild Hunt, a group of supernatural hunters.

2 - Link

Link was introduced in 1986’s The Legend of Zelda, and has since featured in 19 different games with the 20th, Tears of the Kingdom, releasing for the Nintendo Switch in 2023. Link is often depicted as a young boy or young man typically equipped with the Master Sword and Hylian Shield, who becomes a legendary hero by saving the world and the Princess Zelda through feats of courage. Over the years, whilst exploring dungeons, battling creatures and solving puzzles he's made his way into the hearts of many and has become an iconic flagship character in the Nintendo and video game world.

1 - Master Chief

Master Chief is a towering supersoldier known as a "Spartan", raised and trained from childhood for combat. Serving as a mascot for Halo and the Xbox brand, his masked appearance and mysterious nature allows any player to inhabit the character. First seen in the 2001 game Halo: Combat Evolved, Master Chief is for most of us, a nostalgic reminder of split screen chaos with friends, or multiplayer madness online. Master Chief, as well as his AI companion Cortana, has defended humanity and plowed through Covenant Elites, Brutes and The Flood in 6 major Halo titles, the most recent being Halo Infinite. Fans can also find Master Chief in all his glory in the 2022 live action series also called Halo.
